Certificate Overview

When you view a monitor with HTTPS, the SSL Certificate card shows:

  • Valid/Invalid status
  • Days until expiration
  • Certificate issuer
  • Issue and expiry dates

Detailed Certificate Information

Click "View Details" to see extended information:

Subject Details

  • Common Name (CN): The domain the certificate covers
  • Organization (O): Company that owns the certificate
  • Organizational Unit (OU): Department or division
  • Location: City, State/Province, Country

Issuer Details

  • Who issued the certificate
  • Certificate Authority information
  • Issuer organization and country

Validity Period

  • Not Before: When the certificate became valid
  • Not After: When the certificate expires
  • Days Remaining: Time until expiration

Technical Details

  • Serial Number: Unique certificate identifier
  • Signature Algorithm: Encryption method used
  • Version: Certificate format version

Subject Alternative Names (SANs)

Lists all domains covered by the certificate:

  • Primary domain
  • Additional domains (e.g., www subdomain)
  • Wildcard entries (e.g., *.example.com)

Certificate Chain

Shows the trust hierarchy:

  • Your certificate
  • Intermediate certificates
  • Root certificate authority

Understanding Certificate Types

Domain Validated (DV)

  • Basic validation
  • Only verifies domain ownership
  • Quick to obtain
  • Suitable for most websites

Organization Validated (OV)

  • Verifies organization identity
  • Shows company name in certificate
  • Higher trust level

Extended Validation (EV)

  • Strictest validation
  • Thorough organization verification
  • Green bar in some browsers (legacy)

Setting Up SSL Alerts

  1. Go to Profile > Alert Settings
  2. Enable "SSL Certificate Expiring"
  3. Set days before expiry to alert (recommended: 30 days)
  4. Save settings
